What is it, really? Étude’s master berth has a large hatch to let in both light and air. When we have bouncy conditions, it gets splashed with salt water. Which dries, leaving salt behind. This is a view taken from the bed looking up.


After dropping off our friend Michelle at Sidney, BC, we faced the task of planning a route home. Deciding to visit Stuart Island and the Turn Point lighthouse was easy. We’ve spent the past two days at anchor in Garrison Bay on San Juan Island. I took very few photos because you’ve seen the place before.

Tomorrow, we’ll travel south along the Haro Strait, then turn east below the southern ends of San Juan and Lopez Islands, and drop the hook in Watmough Bay at the southern tip of Lopez. Then home on Sunday.

Back in the day, the Wescott Bay Oyster Farm was just that. Boaters could pull up to the dock and buy bivalves. As you can see, the operation has thrived. It’s more of a restaurant now with exceptionally fresh shellfish. Also beer and wine.
