Back to Tubac

Back to Tubac

Back in the day, no matter how well I ran any distance from 8k to a marathon, my friend Ed usually ran a little faster. Now that we’re both old and slow, he drinks better wine than I do.

Ed and his wife Elaine, who knows more about wine than most folks, recently moved from Oregon to Green Valley, Arizona. We made the two-and-a-half-hour drive from Scottsdale to see their new home.

After an extensive look around their impressive community, we drove south on a beautiful Fall day to see how Tubac had changed since Mary Anne and I last visited nine years ago.

You will be relieved to know that we didn’t fall victim to the hordes of murders and cannibals surging north as we headed toward the Mexican border. (Spoiler alert: all quiet. Not even a stray rapist.)

One of several brightly-painted Javalinas. Maybe part of a fund-raising? Dunno.
I may need one of these next year.
Elaine studies the lunch menu. No, all the Margaritas are not for her.

We stopped by the Phoenix Art Museum on our way home. This piece is part of an exhibition of glass works colored by vapor-deposited minerals.

  1. Loved the “Jaguarina” I think it was called! Such brilliant colors on everything!
Holding down ‘the fort’ and the six jobs is keeping me busy! Alas, no (good) wine lately!
    Love, MEB
